Commenters on TikTok offered various theories as to why the painting swap might have happened, including the guest being an artist or it being part of a larger prank.

The host tried to debunk some of these theories by reaching out to the guest's previous Airbnb hosts but found no evidence to support them.

The host also posted follow-up videos that included footage from her security camera, which appeared to show the guest taking the original painting and replacing it with the airplane propeller painting.

Airbnb has suspended the guest for violating its policies and is supporting the host through its AirCover policy.
